I'm Not A Damsel, You're Not A Superhero.

I'm Not A Damsel, You're Not A Superhero.

A Poem by Emilie Renee Barnum

Another sunset, it's beautiful,

but let's not be delusional.

Tomorrow I won't need you to save me,

but tonight... oh god tonight,

please accept my apology,

and stay with me until we see the sunlight.

I make mistakes,

yes, I've felt heartache.

I don't want you to save me,

I'd rather fall on my own.

I don't need help coping with my memories,

I'd rather deal with them alone.

Don't be mistaken, I'm not a damsel,

I'm the perfect fucked up example.

I could ask you to stay the night,

you could be my savior,

we could make this right,

if I don't push you out the door.

But I'm not a damsel,

and you're not a superhero.
