An entry for a 13-word story contest

“Once upon a time, there was a couple who lived happily ever after.”

Author's Note

Just kidding :) there’s no such contest. This thing’s been running around in my head like a trapped mouse, for days. I had to uproot it. Oof! I feel better, now.
Truth is, I know the beginning and end of this most interesting story but, for the life of me, I can’t remember what’s in-between.

Certainly, a fairy tale. For this story to seem true--in any other context--would require heavy drug usage "in-between."
Human love is quite conditional; not an ever-after deal but more like for-as=long-as-it-lasts.
Now, I know you meant this one-liner to be amusing, Woody--and it is.
My problem was coming up with enough stuff to fill this annoying little rectangle.

but the happily ever after is there!! it's the middle that I left out. the idea is to give free reign to my faithful readers. you can put whatever you want. no other writer would do that for you, right? see, I care for my fans :))
