In finding Solace.

In finding Solace.

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

In finding solace,
I found my long forgotten face.
Set free the trapped half of me,
As one soul, I return to thee.

"Why ain't I happy?", he cried.
"Why no help?" Then, I replied:
"Until your own self is enough for you, you'll never be satisfied.
You've forgotten, cut off from yourself half of your soul, a mislead guide.

Trying to fill this soul of yours
With love, writing, drugs, nothing cures.
You can't make these half of your soul
In them you find solace and imagine yourself whole?

You're mistaken! This was never your goal.
To be a fool, to materialize your soul.
Money, love should not be your greed.
They don't complete you, your own self you need.

For, you left half of your soul somewhere,
And your lost solace too, lies there."
"But I find solace when I sing, I find solace in someone's care."
"Fool! your happiness is dependent. There's no solace here.

Go, find half of your soul,
Make yourself a whole.
Then, solace is all yours, it was never a secret though,
Now, you got me? Run for yourself! Go."

i like this very much. it says instead of finding someone or something to complete you you should be complete unto yourself...trouble is, so few people have a clue how that works so when you tell someone "go, find yourself, your happiness" they immediately look outside of themselves, the assumption being that if they dont know where it lies it certainly must not lie within...so they seek without. this is beautifully crafted and well thought out.

The idea is interesting, but the logic of it seems inconsistent. Almost like there is a double standard between the writer and the subject.
True, one needs to feel complete to find solace, but that completeness is a thing of constant evolution. Solace is not a destination but a state of mind.
You tell the subject to find it within the self then tell them to go out a search for it.
I like the subject. A big tackle to go for here. I like the emotion and the exploration.

I will. :)
Absolute magic. You can't love if you don't love yourself. You can't love yourself if you don't know yourself. To do this, as you say, you must be complete.
