I Have A Story To Tell.

I Have A Story To Tell.

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq
"

Written from the perspective of life (or one's body).

"

I have a story to tell,
if you would like to listen
a riot inside, about to explode,
collect the drops when this rain falls.

I don't make sense nowadays,
have no topic of love, abuse or heartbreak.
Just this fiery desire that burns my breast,
feelings, ready to jump out ripping apart my chest.

I'm not dumb when I don't say much,
my words can't find a language enough to be expressed.
Not that I lost my father or husband,
plain life wants itself not to be suppressed.

I don't need colors to emphasize the already beautiful,
I don't need scars to be noticed,
nor do I long for pleasure, to be praised.
I have a sacredness and glamour of my own.

You heard birds and praised my ears,
you saw heavenly scenario and thanked my eyes,
you felt love and embraced the heart within your chest,
you felt pain and cursed my body.

Why? Do I hold no image without a mirror?
If it doesn't love, it is not a heart?
I give you all and you praise everything.
Who shall sing my songs?

I have a story to tell,
listen to me if you would like.
I taught you to make smiles out of curves,
I am the one who an audience deserves.

Don't sing and make me proud,
don't paint and make me smile,
don't see different and make me curious,
don't dance and make me envious (of my own self).

Just listen dear,
I have a story to tell,
won't you sit here and listen?
I gave you those ears.

This is the story of "Life". Life (or body) which is divine and priceless even when it isn't painted by the different artists of nature.

My, this is quite original. I've never come across something like this in writing. Yes, I have seen writers praise their lovers, their friends, and their pets. I have never before seen someone praise their body (or life). Now you get me wondering: what story would a life tell, given the chance? What would it say? What would my own body say about itself? every scar? every kiss? I wonder...

I loved this.

Thank you. :)
I was tempted to read the other reviws - but I didn't. I am "collecting" my thoughts. Sometimes our thoughts gather in accordance with our perception of age and living - our thoughts at 16, 18, 20, 25, 30 have a far different texture than we would think. Culturally, the perception is even stromger because in many areas you realize the fragility of life much earlieer than others.

You have expressed your perceptions in a way that paused me as I looked within. Thank you.

I really enjoyed your themology, and the words themselves. If you're up for criticism, here are a couple ideas: I would start out with something other than "I have a story to tell", that puts the reader off a bit, since they already know your poem is a story you are going to tell. Maybe try something like, "
"I have a riot of raindrops inside, about to explode, I am about to release a torrent from within to make you shiver",, IDK, something like that. "feelings, ready to jump out ripping apart my chest.", I'd reword this it seems clumsy. "I don't need colors to emphasize the already beautiful", here I'd remove the word 'already'. Now this story you have to tell.....it never is really told. I would like to hear the story. I think you have a proficiency with words.

Wow. This is so beautiful. You should do a slam poem type of thing and read this aloud because it would sound so good! Beautiful work of art!!

I'll consider your suggestion. :) Thank you.
Probably the most elegant one of yours :) You've conveyed much without losing the simplicity.
