The Double-Edged Arrow

The Double-Edged Arrow

A Poem by Elisa
"

A poem I wrote years ago and thought I would post. I'll admit, not my best.

"

The Double-Edged Arrow

I dream of when you were near

Now, I stand at a distance.

I let you go.

At the start,

You ran to me

I kept you from getting close;

I was afraid.

When we parted ways,

I still wanted you.

I used to reel you in.

I would shoot you with my arrows

And you were mine.

When I see you,

Now, all I get is pain.

My arrows backfire,

Without the bow.

I stand alone.

Looking down upon my arrows

For I know that if I try to get you now,

You will only run further away.

I dream of anytime before now.

I wish to live

In the never ending past.

All of my writing is dark and I do not believe in writing "happy endings" because they sound pathetic to me. I also tend to make my writing gruesome, with death being a common factor. If you read th.. more..
