Who am I

Who am I

A Poem by Elisa
"

It's good to question your family every now and again.

"
Do you ever feel like an interloper--
A person set aside by your own?

You think you belong,
But instead
You're cast aside,
And forgotten.

The one place you matter
Should be among kin.
If your blood rejects you,
What are you?

Who am I
If not one of the family?
What makes one person recognizable
As blood
And another
As rain.

I wash away;
I fade away;
Away I go;

I can't invite myself
To join my kind.
I must fade away
like the dew when it sees the light.

All of my writing is dark and I do not believe in writing "happy endings" because they sound pathetic to me. I also tend to make my writing gruesome, with death being a common factor. If you read th.. more..
