[You Were The Lock, I Was the Key]...

Written by me and a friend Paige Jordan....she doesn't have anything on the cafe but she is a great writer, i'm trying to talk her into getting one XD

Searching through this wreckage

Finding what was sought

 

I’m alone in dripping blackness

But better than with you

 

You were some of the light

A power withheld inside

 

I’m not afraid anymore

I learnt to see through darkness

 

I realized your light was fuelled

With your mass of inconsistent lies

Sophisticated, articulate- an image

 

A bright yellow envelopes my soul

I hold tight, a wash of freedom

 

Can you feel it?

I’ve walked out of the jail

That was you

I always think it's great fun to write with another person and this poem is a pretty good write. I'm guessing that the two of you were playing with light and darkness meaning the consciousness of the person you were with. I think that you could change the stanzas/lines around to give this a different feel - for example reverse the stanzas around?
Hope you do more. It's a good experience and a useful learning process. Well done.
