Don't Let It

Will you turn and run to the only embrace you ever knew,

Left the icy fingers of the darkness offer you a cold comfort?

Your tears drip slowly to your heart where they freeze

Hard metal offers an opportunity that you gratefully seize

 

 

Will you tear the shadow of a happy life from your eyes,

Let the smiles you forced wash away with the make-up?

Write the picture of pain across your skin for all to see

The despair, once veiled by a façade of happiness, now free

 

 

Will you surrender all that is left of you to their pitiless sneers,

Let their eyes echo with a triumph they have so long desired?

Your silent tears creating a flood you seem to drift below

Escape the world of unforgivable lies that made life your foe

 

 

Will you let an endless night of demons haunt your dreams,

Let the pretence that stole your heart and shattered it destroy you?

Deadly silences you break with a sigh of release from life

A life long façade swiftly lifted by the lethal slash of a knife

 

 

Will you tell the world you’re ok just so the end in unexpected,

Let us all take it harder when all we did was struggle to help?

It hurts so much to let them think it is tolerable but please try

Don’t let their verbal venom be the reason why you die.
