Change of Heart

Realization that one you love, may not be right for you.

Could you hold the smile across my face

and reflect it like a mirror.

Would you laugh as if you were

my echo,

and place happiness back into my eyes.

 

Would you hold my shield for me

and protect me with all of your heart.

Stand with me through this anxiety

like war.

Help me fight until the end.

 

Would you wipe the blood from my wrists

and tell me I'm better than that.

Hold my life in your hands,

and cradle it.

Tell me everything will be okay.

 

Would you take my heart and cherish it.

Love me for all that I am.

Claim that my mistakes make me

flawless,

because I am perfect in your eyes.

 

Could you be the man that I once loved,

the life that I once lived for.

The fairy tale knight that has come to

save me,

not the agony that keeps me binded.

Poems like this make me believe in fairy-tales... i know is cheesy to say but the all hold so reality to it. Prince Charming wasn't perfect but he sure true his princess like she was a queen. Not say that how it should be but it end alot of conflict in relationship. This was great by the way!

The mystery of love. I have been marry for 20 years and a old man. I know the security of perfection is not ever going to happen. Take two people willing the accept the good and the bad out of a marriage for two people to survive. I like the questions and the fear in the poem. Need to know the person you think you want to spend a lifetime with. I like the questions raised by the excellent poem.
