Don't Be A Stranger

Don't Be A Stranger

A Poem by Andrea
"

another one for daddy

"
"Don't be a stranger"
he said.
But I couldn't trust
the back of your van
or the candy in your pocket.
No, never again.
Lying through your teeth,
through that fake f*****g smile.

"Don't be a stranger"
he said.
I thought you knew me?
You should know me better
then the back of your hand.
No, not anymore.
The girl who holds your smile
frowns more than you will ever know.

"Don't be a stranger"
he said.
Say that to a mirror.
I have almost forgotten
your aging, wrinkled face.
No, I never did see
your face as it pruned with age
for you left me when I was so young.

"Don't be a stranger"
he said
I never was one.
But I am your daughter
because of biology not love.
No , i do still love you
father of mine,
but you couldn't love me any more than
a stranger could.
