Perfect Girl

Perfect Girl

A Poem by Andrea
"

I can change.

"
She highlights her mind with amber lights:
A certain kind of sorrow that can only be described as
beautiful.
Her delicate hands gracefully clasps
her mothers finest china.
Her bicep muscles pull back
and a family heirloom hits the wall.
Bitter tears quiver upon her
shaking lips.
She screams in outrage
at the disaster she has become.
She is a tiny nightmare,
a dreadful memory.
She is no more than a useless girl.

In her eyes, the wall paper is disintegrating.
The house she grew up in
falls to little specks of dust.
Skipping around the caving hallways
bounces mommy and daddy's
perfect little girl.
She watches herself
smile at another day.
The future was once bright.
The future was once mine.

I recall the memories of my childhood
dreams.
I clean up the glass flecked mess
that I've made.
Tears cover my frowning face,
but I hide my thoughts with sunshine.
Perhaps I'll learn
to smile again.
