Mediocre Joker

Mediocre Joker

A Poem by KayOss

Gone.

Lost into obscurity

Erased.

Rubbed out prematurely

Forgotten.

Sliding into oblivion

Mediocre joker.

Know that I am

Everything you made me

What you bade me

I did.

All.

Nothing.

Everything.

Floating into your world

We shared.

You cared.

Now gone.

Erased.

Forgotten.

Replaced.

For some reason, the phrase "mediocre joker" got stuck into my head one night as I was dealing with some issues. I wrote this poem around the phrase and around the issue. Poetry is life, right?

Love the title. Good Bukowski-esque piece. Love the way that some lines were just a single word, also. Wasn't overused either. Great work here.

As a person who damnedly considers himself just good enough to impress the fools and uninitiated, and yet prone to being utterly torn apart by the real experts and masters--I can relate to this.

My friend actually is a joker, and as a person who rides the coattails of comedy myself....there's few worse feelings than a bad joke told, and everyone just sort of tries to ignore it, and you.

The short, curt words are like the last gasping breaths before death, or worse, fading into obscurity. Antonio Salieri''s worst nightmare.

A fine read.
