Lost

We were meant to be, but we did it wrong.

A word,
a whisper
Echoes in my mind
A memory,
Or dream of what could have been
I cannot tell this time.

A scent,
A smell,
I'd know it anywhere,
Home to me,
Or it used to be,
I think I've lost it now.

A touch,
A kiss,
So tender & sweet,
Full of love,
At least it was,
Before things became a mess.

A heart,
Once full,
Bursting at the seams,
Is now flat,
There's no going back,
It's lost forever to me.
