The Faerie Dance

The Faerie Dance

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

The mad man doth sing.

"

In glory, in glory,

the mad man sings

of sexual pleasures

and other such things.

As they dance and dance

in circles and boxes,

their beauty draws in,

as cunning as foxes.

The dance shifts,

rippling water.

A wave growing higher

and significantly broader.

The mortals in the circles

dance until they bleed,

but the Good Folk keep dancing

in time to the reed.

They dance and they dance

to a beat that persists.

A beat not even

the mad man can resist.

So, the mad man and the doomed

join the fray,

their lives and their souls

withering away.
