Devastation

Devastation

A Poem by Fairieswithscales

I imagine a day where I open my mouth and razor blades are falling out
I hold out my arms
Like hands in a thunderstorm
And the little metal raindrops
Slice me in the downpour
Clouds shaped like lips
Claim to be God
With each rap of thunder
That screams from within them
Turning tears to rain
Turning razor blades to hail
And suddenly Mother Nature is bleeding all over the place
This is not the end of times
This is not the rapture
This is the rupture of a volcano that has been dormant for years
Surprising and unsettling to everyone around it
The news papers were titled
Devastation

When the bridges have burned
And the ashes have cleared
I lie awake and alone
Amidst the destruction
Still bleeding
Still burning
Yet everyone but me
Has been demolished
