Witness…

 

Let me drink,

from the sustenance of your heart;

For mine beats,

in resonance of its impart.

And the rate,

of my reverence for its remark;

Is the pulse,

to the poetry of my art.

It is for you;

That the skies part,

and the words flow.

That the lights arc,

on the wave crests glow.

It is for you…

my dashes dart,

on the breezes blow.

And passion marks,

on my penning throws.

It is, for you.

What a wonderful gift you bestow upon your reader with this offering; you give your reader a sense of importance and connection to your work and I think that is a most worthwhile effort. Why else would a poet write? Of course poets cannot do otherwise considering our incurable condition but it certainly endears the reader to the author. I enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing your uplifting verse.

Often people ask me if I have a muse and I always respond "You" They usually just give me "the look" of incredulity and/or a blush and shake their heads:) But my muse has always been the reader and I worship and relish the reader even if my lines only meet one pair of eyes they are everything to me

Every word a beat. Every thought a piece of art framed in letters. Matted with punctuation. It's not often we write for ourselves only. If what needs to be said were only for ourselves we wouldn't be very likely to pen it I imagine. And to write what we know is to write what we've witnessed. I think I see what you're getting at ... we need to write.

what a blessed poem ... what a great heart it reveals .. poets bleed, uplift, inspire, have sex all for those who read .. i don't think it can be said more eloquently .. tho of course this may be taken for just one love .. but i think not .. beautiful beautiful expression sir ... your read increases the enjoyment by 10 ;)

oh, how I love my audience of one! I love the witness more than I love myself I think... perhaps that is what love really is. Caring for others more than one self and thriving on it

I am almost back to my old self dear Chris:) I will not be running any marathons LOL but I am able to work almost at my old pace:) most of my strength is back and I am sitting here conversing with you so I am happy and lucky and filled with greatfulness
