A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

muse is singing again, bringing me lyrics

"
some have found their silver
though others search for gold
some are hooked on passion
afraid they'll end up cold
.
and some are never satisfied
with a fear of growing old
yet most are quite content it seems
to find an anchor's solid hold
.
in the safety of a harbour
now surely that is priceless
those arms that long to hold you
far better than lost treasure
more valuable than gold

This poem is so beautifully relevant in today's times when most have become so material. Asides from chasing accomplishments, we envy others for the stuff they have and forget to count our loved ones as our biggest blessings. Your words always bring us to great realizations, dear Chris. Thanks for sharing such positivity today.

Then I thank you again for finding it :)
Our friends and loved ones, mostly taken for granted, until the day we miss them and wish some seeds had been planted. The anchor that holds us close to those that are dear. Love your poem,

The embrace of a lost loved one transends all that we can physically hold.
Thanks Chris for this romantic poem.
I hope all's well with you, and Merry Christmas!

Yes, the older we get the less it's about silver and gold.
I don't relish the getting older part, so I'm trying my best to relish the real parts,
and getting hungry with all this talk about relish,
I really enjoyed this one, Chris :)

A nice bit of symbolism here. Yes some are not satisfied with their silver looking for the fabled cities of gold. Many relationships end because of this. Yes a safe harbor is above all value. When this type of relationship is found hold on with all your might. Nicely done.

This is terrific,

but,

I really would like to see you try to free form. Always remember, free verse doesn't mean "on the spot". It's like wrestling... we're all good at the same thing, the difference is like a whisper....that eventually becomes a shout.

But I, have been drinking since lunch time today so...

.... i still want you to try to do a long form poem based all on free form.... I think it'd be spectacular

They certainly are...worth twice their weight in gold, as they say. To have someone by your side, through the good and the bad is priceless, though anymore it seems that is a thing of the past. I am just glad I am a thing of the past as well. : ) Thank you for bringing these older pieces to the forefront so that we who missed them the first time out can read them now.
