Beautiful You

Beautiful You

A Poem by Folagbade Muyiwa

What else can be more than being beautiful?

A methodical exploration of the notion
Returns with a blank answer to the query.

A gentle soul, peacefully weighing every matter.
A clean heart, which zooms in on every good.
A clear conscience.
A life, built around respect, honour and loyalty.
Always given to be taught.

You don't just smile, it comes from within.
We don't see your mind, but we see your face;
With the expression of the inner glee.

Wisdom is found in your lips
Because in you lies understanding.

Daybreak, noontime, nighttime
Your meekness is evident to all
And your gentleness, a wonder to behold.

In your bosom lies kindness.
And as the apple tree among the trees of the wood
So your goodness stands out.

Slow to anger
Swift to embrace.

Always Happy
Ever smiling
Diligent in duty
Given to instructions
A product of love and given to love

Soft, fresh and of standards.

What more can there be beyond this beauty?

Happy is the man that retaineth thee.
