On Scarlet Wings^

In the twilight of life's last tired breath
whereupon our soul prepares for the flight
it's fire and wings that fly us home, yes
a Phoenix rises renewed toward new light
On Scarlet Wings, our spirit soars on high
leaving ashes of mortal death behind
giving up the ghost, when life's course runs dry
'Alas, beauty of peace our soul doth find
No more to suffer Earth's prolonged decree
of life's daily struggles from dawn to dusk
grinding the distance to the ninth degree
a constant state of flux,as live we must

It's a fire and wings that fly us home
On Scarlet Wings, once life's seeds have been sown

This is a very powerful poem. It has a unique take on the phoenix in symbolism of life and death that I really enjoy. My personal favorite lines, especially when compared, were "No more to suffer Earth's prolonged decree" and "It's a fire and wings that fly us home" that suggest something different than what a phoenix is usually for, which is not just death but most importantly resurrection. Most would interpret the use of a phoenix as returning to life, but you seem to imply that rebirth isn't in mortal life, but in some version of the afterlife that you call "home." That has a bit of a Christianity vibe to it, though I do not know your personal beliefs. Anyway, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for submitting.

Beautiful images here. The ending, as with most for me, was the best..."It's a fire and wings that fly us home
On Scarlet Wings, once life's seeds have been sown" Great job!

This poem made me feel very nostalgic. I have often noted the style that is used by this author. It is reminiscent of older styles of poetry. Very refreshing.

This sounds like a poem to go with your atavar, or your atavar is to go with this poem! And I really like the last two lines, especially the last one, which has truth in it.

"dawn to dusk" - hmmmm, that implies a break in there from dusk to dawn... I can't seem to find it though! LOL

Beautiful write with great imagery and flow!
