`Ides of March`

`Ides of March`

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

"
Water casts a reflection of time beyond
Could the vision I behold, be true?
as I gaze upon, this deep blue pond
I see someone betraying you

Yes my friend beware the Ides of March

for what I  see, is yet to be

wander in fear or pay the cost

your trusting friend is your enemy

Sleep with open eye and light of dream

' lest danger finds you unaware in bed

and slips dagger in with slight of hand's quick scheme

Beware! Be warned! or Be dead!

I do not ask to see such loss

these visions just  appear inside my mind's eye

so dear one be cautious of eve'ry turn you cross

for at dawn on the Ides of March, someone will surely die!

Ides of March. You have spun this story well. It makes me think of Caesar. That was one of my favorite tales along with Macbeth.

I hope it ain't me...;)

I've not read a poem like this before on WC. Very unique application. Makes me want to study up on the source of the Ides of March. Kind of spooky really.

Nice work!
