The Heaviest Cross

The Heaviest Cross

A Poem by Fran Marie

Take up your cross,
everybody has one to bear.
just follow the Son
and face your problems straight on

It's easier with Jesus there

Take up your cross
you know you can
His was the heaviest cross by far
it contained the multitude of sins

Tho~ Jesus' carried it
'twas not his sins, but ours.

Yes, Christ was perfect
yet, he died for us
and the price was dear

Salvation was won on Calvery
as he hung there

and spoke Father forgive them...
and shed a tear.

His cross bore extra weight
with whips and a crown of thorns
spittle. rocks and stones thrown
and nails tearing into His flesh
as the precious blood ran down
his bent frame~yet

the Spirit remained fresh

So take up your cross
and if you must complain
think of the Cross at Calvery
the comparision surley is not the same

He gave it up for us
let's do the same for Him
Let's carry our cross with pride in loving Jesus
It's not too late to hope, dream and believe
for  with Him we all can win.

this is an absolutely beautiful piece of work. It was a little awkward at time, but the message is so well portrayed. On a technical note, the line "think of the Cross at Calvery" it's spelled Calvary. other than that, inspiring, tear-jerking and overall it made my heart flutter to think of my King of Kings

What can I say Fran, you know we don't agree on this.
But its a beautiful poem and one you should be proud of.

"Take up your cross,
everybody has one to bear."
Hmmm and just your own, don't carry someone elses.
Sorry its late and these are just my thoughts ...

"Salvation was won on Calvery
as he hung there
and spoke Father forgive them...
and shed a tear."

NO offence mean't be this and I will delete if you want ...

" And Odin hung on the world ash
and lost an eye
and saw the future, the end and Ragnarok
And saw his own death and the fall of the Aesir
But one small grain of hope
Magni and Modi
Sons of Thor
Raised Mjolnir high
And the sun rose again "

Kind regards

inspiring, simply beautiful, what a picture of love out of so much hate, that cross was never meant to be beautiful, but because it saved us, its the most precious picture ever painted, one of love and sacrifice for a people who dont deserve it, who would just as soon take his life, wonderful write :)

very spiritual indeed, the lesson is clear, if Jesus can carry our sins on his back there is no reason we should be able to admit to them and accept the consequnces... truly a magnificent write.

this is very inspirational, i am a christian and believe that we all carry our own crosses in life and as you say with the knowledge of knowing jesus it is easier because he is there to help us through it all..there is no greater love when it comes to the sacrifice that he made in order to pay for all of our sins..i felt this poem and my heart was pierced by its vivid imagery..well From One Word-Play Poet To The Next Always Remember To Write With Your Heart!!!
