Cornish Sonnet

Time moves like a thief in the night
stealing precious moments we share
Stars which once shone have lost their light
and love withers,dying like weeds
Time waits naught stripping love's warmth bare
and love's red rose 'tis 'morrow's breeze
 
Let's dance while we may,waste naught sun
paint life's canvas with bright gay tone
'Lest our love's painting lays undone
Let's stalk the night,steal away the moon
hold each moment,making them our own
turn time's swift beat to a slow dance tune

I am not sure that the word "naught" here in this context is correct usage. It would be an adverb if used as "not" therefore the usage here may have some issues. Naught is actually an extinct word in that sense (being used as "not" in adverb form) but has been and is still used to mean "nothing" As in " All our plans have come to naught." You have stirred the linguist in me regardless. I'm off to research the ancient usage.
