Remember

Remember

A Poem by Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)
"

A Death Song!

"

Forest dark, will you weep when I am gone?

River deep, will you bear up my pall?

Pale sweet moon, will you croon my requiem?

Remember, sweet friends, how I loved you all.

Midnight dew, will you cleanse where my feet fell?

Wash the ground clean, so the shadows can crawl.

Don't let my pain cover paths with mortal stains,

Remember, sweet friends, how I loved you all.

Wind, will you blow through the grass over me?

Leaves, will you fall sick in autumn and grieve?

Clouds, will your cool tears soften Mother Earth?

Earth, will you open up and set your child free?

When Winter snow falls, let my spirit sing!

Let my still soul paint the leaves in the Fall!

I'll dance with warm rain in Summer and Spring!

Remember, sweet friends, that I love you all.

This is an uplifting and beautiful piece - Gaia will shed a tear on your demise and embrace you in her bosom- Death is only another form of being-an ending to a new beginning...

I would love to offer some constructive criticism on your work but I can't- For me there is nothing to criticize- Structure, form, wordchoice tone narration ; are tools that you have honed and learned to use well. I'm not one to blow smoke up someones a*s but your work is 1st rate poetry-

So sweet, yet I find it kinda sad in a way....AND scary...I love the repetition of " I loved you all"
hmm...Its interesting how the last stanza says " I love you all".
The piece is beautiful...I really like it. The 3rd stanza has got to be my favorite.

Sweet poem, though there's an undertone that I can't quite figure out. Could be me. I see conspiracy in Snow White. :)

I'm with Bob -- it's difficult to offer any suggestions for improvement on your work.

Nice way to look at one's demise. "Remember how I loved you all" is a nice refrain.
