Speak to me

Speak to me

A Poem by Douglas Levi Gribbins

I can't tell you to believe
I can't beg for you on my knees
I can't prevent your eyes to see
What has become of me.

I call you, will you begone from me?
I yell, I scream for you to leave
Beg, I collapse down to my knees
Would die again just to be free.

A howl into the night
The eye of the truth comes to the light
The world will flee on the first sight.

I'm not 100% clear on what it all means, but your poem is well written, as far as expressing wavering anguish over some love object. One minute, it seems like he's calling her toward, the next, pushing her away. The last stanza is what I find mystifying. Altho I write open-ended pieces, to let the reader fill in the blanks, in this case, I don't think there's enuf info for me to guess at the ending. Maybe one more line to give us clueless ones a little hint?

Every one of your poems ALWAYS make me wonder how could someone be so good at writing. You're truly marvelous. Nsuch simple words and sentences that bring the heart in so deeply. A very relatable poem, of pushing people away because we feel they deserve better or something. Wonderful job Douglas.
