MomentumA Poem by Douglas Levi Gribbins
Sit, Listen
Now that i'm in this position To tell you a story of a mission I expect respect equally between our division I stole love from the blind and pretend I'm an angel These cuffs are my bind from the guilt and I dangle I hang from the ground, biding death, will i go up or down? At least hear me, father before the time comes around. I'm a bullied-become bully, I love when I hate, I hate when loves present Don't expect you to believe, I am a man-made liar, Excuse not descendant. I blame my parents for what I've became, It was all me When Xavier came around, It was all on me When my peers cursed my name, It was all on me And when I became my own nightmare, It was all on me. When I appear at the gates, scream "It was all on me" I pretend to love when i cheat, I didn't accept guilt. Didn't think my own future, Didn't expect what I built. Expecting forgiveness that I knew wasn't deserved. I'm sorry, mother, father, For I am the hurt who hurt. Mama if you're hearing, I love you to pieces. Father, when I saw you last, my heart was in pieces. The world expecting me to hate, but they don't know the true story I love you, father, I write this seeking forgiveness, not glory. Scars don't heal through time, they don't keep secrets Peace through my mind when I'm become a war-seeker. Physically a castle, But emotionally I'm left open. I could be broke down, but outside I seem like its okay. Ask God for forgiveness Ask my family for forgiveness Ask my peers for forgiveness Ask YOU for forgiveness In all my time I didn't see myself in the mirror All i saw was an image i wish i could make clearer.
