The Lullaby of Goodbyes

The Lullaby of Goodbyes

A Poem by Gastroc.

love was never sensible

never,

but now.

previously belonging to men

with

heavy hands and

shallow hearts

worthless impression of

one's self

and so i was

mouse:

(n)

[hand controlled device]

DO

as the sayer says

even i,

the sadist,

conform to the shadows of

back pockets of

middle class

middle aged

men

who imagine themsleves favored among

fellow acquaintances

but you

you came from

sight unseen and

set fire to a soul

i thought to be-

to be lost

I never wished to be awaken

shaken or stirred

from the hell i created

RESCUED

knowing not my need

to be

held me-

whailing, flailing

with white knuckles in

bleeding hair

keeping me from

screaming

"Hush, pretty baby"

Loving is in convincing

and I,

I stand stunned,

convinced.

Woah. What have you been getting into? S**t man this is intense. You are falling hard.
"set fire to a soul
i thought to be-
to be lost"
This is a good example of your overall feeling in this poem. Your taken back, scared, unsure of the craziness of what you're saying. Love? You? Never you thought. But look, there it is. No one is pushing you, no "middle class middle aged men" showing you what's what, but somebody who likes you. Listens and thinks your thoughts are valuable. Nice write. You sometimes remind me of Ani Defranco.

Awww! I love this. Someone rescued me too.

Wow. Brilliant work. Just a couple of things.... few errors here and there, but I also wondered about the line "and so i was mouse: (n)[hand controlled device]" Not sure what it is, I can't help feel it takes away from the piece. Other than that, I loved this, so deep and wonderfully written.

Marvelous.
