Echo of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Echo of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

First, the earthquake,

the ground shook

like it shook so long ago,

when the bombs hit.

Then roiling black water,

reminding those who remember

of the black rain that fell

after the bombs;

raining death on everyone.

Finally,

a new threat,

radiation

from a nuclear reactor,

b*****d child of the bombs that fell.

Again

the people of Japan

need clean water,

food to eat,

and a safe place to recover.

Echoes of the past,

ring in my heart.

Hiroshima,

Nagasaki,

I still hear you.
