Remains

Remains

A Poem by Girl Friday (Sarah W.)

all women have secrets --

little treasures hidden in boxes

decorated with dream-silk

and - perhaps - a ribbon of guilt

what we have become

is not always who we are,

and even eyes steeped in starlight

can lie when necessity demands

all women have secrets --

mine are scattered somewhere

along the shores of Mar del Plata,

given to the west wind of the Mohave,

lost along the sea cliffs of Kalaupapa

and there they will remain,

beyond the impressions I have made

with sensible feet and idealist hands

Perhaps no one...perhaps someone...that's the crux of the try issue. Thank you, Derek!

then I the real question is what does it take to open the trust door
Secrets...yes, I suppose we all have them and we hold them close to our hearts or store them in velvet lines boxes. It seems like you are saying your dreams were fulfilled, but they were put up on a shelf for more realisitc pursuits. Great introspection and exceptional imagery in this one. Lydi**

Thank you so much, Lydia :)
Given the awe inspiring scenic landscapes and sea-port locations you have depicted, your deepest secrets are well and truly hidden from prying eyes !

A captivating muse !

Thank you for reading :)
Beautiful Sarah, though it is not only women, men too harbor secrets, small pieces of themselves that they keep locked away, more so in an iron box with rusted chains, but still secrets all the same.

Your piece today has taken simple words, conversational words and used them to create something truly amazing. Very nicely penned.

I read and re-read it and with each time it made me smile. For indeed , all women have secrets; mine I tucked it in padlocked boxes beneath my bed with keys thrown in the ocean’s vastness. This is a beautiful piece, GF.

Thank you so much...we all choose where we hide our secrets :)
A wonderful poem and it’s so true of every woman that she has a little box
Of memories and forgotten hopes this is beautifully expressed.
