Corruptors and Corruption

Corruptors and Corruption

A Poem by Jim Given

By Plath,

Mothers,

Fathers,

Politicians,

Clerics,

III

The caretakers,

Of each generation,

Finds that their,

Children are lost.

IV

Their souls,

And spirits wander,

Through the loosely,

Constructed maze

Of psychic-paleontology,

V

Until they are distracted,

And then caught,

In the plaits of thought.

VI

Contemplations,

A new,

A vision

Of the future,

Different,

Open to change,

Non antiseptic,

Straying from the

Status quo,

VII

For better or worse,

Not to know,

Who, where or why,

Of the figure,

Standing motionless

Atop me,

Their Blood

splattered sleeve,

Their gun pointed,

At my bloodied,

And concaved head.

We are shaped by what we allow, consciously and unconsciously, us to be shaped. The dilemma lies not in the externals but by the internals. Our senses are selective so it goes also that the processes used to shape human conscience must also be just as selective. Unhappily, we subscribe to paradigms templated to what is now and not to what it should be. Herein lies the struggle for our growth and development as human beings with a destiny beyond what is physical.
