The Jonah Complex

The Jonah Complex

A Poem by Webster
"

A fear of success.

"
A lifetime of darkness, fills a void
All the anguish but no tear in sight.
Hidden away in this chasm so numb
How can I move on, when what's forward is glum.

What I seek is right in front of me
What's in reach is my destiny
An onward step is what I lack
How do I move ahead and skip this crack.

Greener pastures they say await
Behind that door a future so bright
A light that blinds my future gait
The unknown I fear, I'm sure, I might.

Without that step I cannot begin
To turn this lowly pace into a run
What if that race I stumble in
I dread the stitches before I've begun

Watch for failure before success
It's always calm before a storm
A cynical thought for a happy face
A true warrior must rise, I shall transform

When from the ashes a pheonix can rise
Why is it my true potential I do disguise
My future in the past does dwell
As what I fear is fear itself.
