True Power

You only saw power

as taking

Taking control 

Claiming opinions,

trust, positions,

respect

Subsuming individuals

into the collective you

until we all

talked the same, 

and walked the same,

and thought the same.

But Sir

power is not taking

it may only

be received

So you may take

what you think you want 

from me

I can always get

a better job

but you cannot be

a better person

"power is not taking, it may only be received" I love these lines. My dad used to say "don't let the b******s get you down" cheers
