"Telling Myself"

I cant keep telling myself this lie in my head

I must accept what has happened 

And what will happen 

I cant keep telling myself what i want to hear

I only tell myself it, wishing you were the one saying it 

But in reality i know you never will

I keep telling myself theres hope 

But i know there isn't 

I have to stop telling myself theres hope

I feel helpless, 

is there anything else i can say?

Should i hold tight on that small chance of being together again?

I cant keep telling myself theres hope...

I cant keep telling myself this lie...

I cant keep telling myself what i want to hear...

I cant...but I always will...

Many people tell themselves "I can't" all the time, until it becomes their reality. You've painted a picture of this happening to a person. It's an all-too-common struggle inside the OCD mind . . . trying to tell myself this, but then it doesn't stick, so that comes creeping into my mind, again & again. Altho I'm usually not too fond of repetition, in this case, it mimics the mind that won't be still on a point. Good job illustrating a common truth.

I enjoyed this poem, all through it I thought I read the wisdom of an accepting heart. Then right at the end the bargaining stage of grief went on. Who can account for the rights and wrongs of love? nice style, nice flow. Thankyou
