A Poem by Paul Michelle

comfort is your death
the trappings of your success
futures you divest

children look to you
emulate the things you do
stick like weird green glue

nursed on confusion
sold hard on the delusion
of things so untrue

schooled by child soldiers
with monkeys on their shoulders
and money for guns

problems cant be solved
'rinconsistency resolved
by means of their cause

if you see rejoice
for there is only one choice
after another

if you choose wisely
the cause of all suffering
will be in your hand

Smile when you see
that the cause of suffering
is the cause of joy

don't shed one false tear
don't reject your shame & fear
or curse the heavens

When all you hold dear
one day up and disappears
the truth will be clear

and then you will see
that there is nothing to be
that no one is free

Author's Note

Paul Michelle
I was with some friends and strangers when a challenge was issued to see who could write the best poem. I surprised myself and wrote this in about 15 minutes.
I never edited it.
