Aged

Aged

A Poem by Jessie

In the mirror I look each day

And see my edges start to fray

My wilted petals and broken stem

My age pooling, spilling over the brim

And everywhere I see them

Their colors like a sparkeling gem

Leaves outstretched as they soak up the sun

Worries and grief, they seem to have none

My reflection shows that my colors have faded

The thought of years lost making me pale and jaded

It seems my once beautiful garden is now overrun by weeds

And my dreams follow the trail that the ticking clock leads

And so the youth I watch, their vibrance my feed

I'm addicted you see, it's my only true need

I watch them and wait, a smile on my face

It's sick how I laugh, when small wrinkles I trace.

You like??? This poem is based on both the flower in the picture and my Aunt. The other day she was going on and on about how old her middle daughter looks, despite her being only maybe 29-30. She seemed oddly happy about it...

Nope, I don't like. I SIMPLY ADORE IT!

You couldn't have painted a more beautiful picture of the true meaning of "Aging Gracefully"...It also reads as a double entendre, which happens to be the love of my life!

Beautiful piece of 'ageless' poetry...
