Dream

Dream

A Poem by gypsynight

I am running this time.
I am in traffic.
I move swiftly around the cars as if I was one.
I am outside my body.
Stuck inside my mind at the same time.
I am running and it feels as if I may never stop.
I am cornered with no where to run.
I can see the shadow of the ominous beast.
The beast I have never seen.
I run away and hide.
As far away as possible, hoping for the walls to swollow me in.
So I do not have to face whats following me.

Do not indulge in dreams of having what you have not, but reckon up the chief of the blessings you do possess, and then thankfully remember how you would crave for them if they were not yours.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

I witnessed here , being imprisoned in yourself with the beast reference of another persona inside of you you've never witnessed before. You are a function of what the whole universe is doing in the same way that a wave is a function of what the whole ocean is doing. In persistence with fear and at the same time wearing emotions as armor so you are impervious to the outside world. Only you get to decide how you feel, who you are and what you want to do. There's a lot of ways to interpret your poetry and unique pathways to lead you to an experience relatable in some way but different in wavelengths.

What I am really saying is that you don’t need to do anything, because if you see yourself in the correct way, you are all as much extraordinary phenomenon of nature as trees, clouds, the patterns in running water, the flickering of fire, the arrangement of the stars, and the form of a galaxy. You are all just like that, and there is nothing wrong with you at all. Keep writing poetry around trees you mark without using a knife because you found the nature within you, whatever you do inside is reflected on the outside. The universe resides in you. Sincerely your friend in poetry and life.

Running away from the beast and following your dreams is what I get out of this short gem of a poem.

i love your last line. i like the contradictions of running and in traffic, outside your body inside your mind. I would have dropped the "at the same time". I think maybe you should continue with the contradictions on the "I'm concerned...' part. I like this dram though. I'm going to write a poem that feels this way for you rn.

Reminds of a lucid dream or astral projection. I felt apart of this one.
