Insanity Falls

Insanity Falls

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

driven crazy by love

"
cerebral trappings
of self-perpetuating delirium
leaves me far-flung
from normalcy's door

still pictures embedded in fallacy
torture a bustling mind
a spiraling head trip
going nowhere (but in circles)

familiar voices creep up
a crooked back, whispering
sweet machinations lacking endings
further fueling madness

shadowed consciousness drape
a honeyed valentine, gone
living only in brokenness
enchained by illness and heartache

insanity falls
screaming as it lands
lost love haunting peace
white walls gleefully play doctor

Love hurts that is always going to be.An emotion that can smother us in sweetness or stifle us with sadness, your poem is truly splendid:)

Thank you, Rita. That is actually one of my favorite lines of the piece as well.
You describe the condition (speaking in the vernacular here); 'Cracking up ' in exquisite poetic and metaphoric literacy !

Different is always welcome :)
Excellent poem. I love the language and the way each word enhances the emotions portrayed. I particularly like the third stanza, the way the images reflect the mind, the image of "a crooked back;" I immediately thought of a nasty old lady with condescending "familiar voices" that have haunted for as long as you remember (at least that's how I understood - related - to it). Great poem!
