STAY

STAY

A Poem by Holly Mason

DIVORCE THROUGH AN ELEVEN YEAR OLDS EYES...
They are talking,my mom and my dad
Can tell it isn't going well. Please STAY.
For the sake of me please STAY.
The door opens out she goes.
No more mom.No more home.
What did I do?I didn't mean it.
Gone another blissful day.
It is a week now.No mom.
Where did she go?Is she o.k.?
I am so sorry I will be better.
I have to find her to tell her to STAY.
Dad let her come back.Oh wait she is here.
I tell her I am sorry for whatever I did.
Not you she says it is dad and I.
Drops me back off after a short visit.
Watching her pull away rips me apart.STAY.
Why did I do all these horrible things?
Dad says it is not me.Mom says it is not me.
Well what is it then?Help my family.STAY.
There is a fight I am told in a big building downtown.
I hear their all there.Mom,dad, grandma, grandpa and even my cousins.
I hear all the talk in the house. It is not good.
Everybody wants me.I want it all to be the same.STAY.
My things are now packed.I do not know where we are going.
A new house?A new town?A new school?Mom's for the weekend.
I only hug her for a little while it is already time to go.STAY.
Love to you both mom and dad.Would of been better to talk.
Nothing in my life will ever be the same.I am so sorry I'm bad.
Wish you would just tell me.I am eleven not two.STAY.
They still do not get along mom and dad.Nothing is the same.
Picking me up,dropping me off,all hell rides for me.
I do not like to talk anymore.Which parent is right?
That is all everyone wants to hear. Not what I think.
Screaming again they see eachother.I hate all of it.STAY.
Nothing will be o.k. The cuts I am making will...STAY.

you're welcome :-')
The quality of this poem is magnificent. This has truly touched my heart. This can be truly painful to see for an 11 year old. All one wants is for their parents to stay together. Well done Holly. Thank you for sharing this soulful piece

This is filled with such an ache... the painful scars.. the helpless cries to secure what is falling apart.. So emotionally stirring, dear poet.

A very sad poem that captures very well all the misery and sadness of such situations.
You are, I hope, very pleased with this, as it is a fine poem

Such misery and you did a good job of putting it into words.
I always like poems that repeat certain words, as you did with the word "Stay."
Children fare the worst in this situation and you are very much aware of that.
Eloquent.

So heartbreakingly sad. The torment and helplessness of a child who only wants things to be the way they were. Hauntingly real words, wonderfully told.

Oh god- the powerlessness of it all then-cut-control- release but it doesn't last long.
Your poem strikes to the heart of the littlest victims of all. It's all so very sad.

yeah, guess so :)
This is such an emotional poem....especially because this is from a child's point of view...till now I've also seen many fights...though just arguments but have heard enough threats and shouting to wish that this may not go to a high level and the fight may end....so I was able to completely connect to the poem....and the way u have used the word stay made me more emotional...it's a heart breaking poem...

This hit home! My son was 11 when I divorced his dad 4 years ago. My daughter was 9. I am very close to both of them and after reading your emotional poem I will make sure it stays that way. Not that it matters but I had to leave and my kids see that now.
I hope you are okay....
Great write!
