Dear Lucifer

Dear Lucifer

A Poem by Muse

I am well

"thank you"

You asked about the storm

All I can say is

Yes

 it still thunders...

I truly believe that when lightning strikes

it always strikes in the same place twice

There has been no rain

"to stop the fire"

Therefore

My make-believe Eden burned to the ground

The energy of you

"I still feel"

 when nobody's around

No rain to stop the raging inferno, yet, I rein. No thunder to chisel away at the sounds of screaming, but I scream thunderously. No relief from the pain...the misery. Yet, pain & misery are my relief.

This was something else, Muse! Ethereal, sublimely creepy...this was VERY good!

The overall presentation was astounding!

Though it seems intended as a piece responding to the emotional state of someone after a relationship collapse, (hence the reference to them in the title as, 'Dear Lucifer') there is a certain universality about this work which gives it the ability to have application in any number of other situations. I like to aim for universality in my work, sometimes, so it appeals to me in that respect.
Thanks ever so much for sharing it, (though I must say I despise the being and the destructive acts of the being who was formerly known as 'Lucifer'!)

"I truly believe that when lightning strikes

- Awesome use of words to give an intense feeling of pain and sorrow to the readers!

Loved it! :) Excellently penned! :)

This conversation solicits the ear. We lean in to listen, knowing we shouldn't be so tempted, but the dark is enticingly sweet.

Haven't been on in a while, but I must say you still compose these excellent word plays into natural flowing poems that leaves the reader thinking. The imagery is great, the concept of lightning always striking the same place twice, to me, reads like a scar you will always feel, especially "when nobody's around." Nicely done, Muse!

hmm could see you playing either side of the darkness or the light..loved the conversational tone and almost bored or weary tone that has you admitting your thoughts but ever so nonchalantly..curtsy bow to you indeed..

Hi, Muse. You are one of the writers who I really adore and admire on WC. Your words kept me glued while reading this poem. I was thunderstruck by your beautiful and flawless imagery. You never cease to amaze me. I've read your poems before and it just gets better and better every time you post a new one. Though I have to admit that the title literally scared me but that didn't stop from checking your work out! Who cares about Lucifer, anyway? LMAO. I loved the quoted messages. It was such a plus. This was simply creative and brilliant. Keep writing. ^^
