DRIFTWOOD

DRIFTWOOD

A Poem by Holly Mason

brown cinders, glistening sun
down the creek driftwood comes
so simple it looks
so stale and dead
but looking closer
nature has said
a floating gift
beauty in wood
a life of wonder
as this tree stood
a name, a carving
two friends for life
this driftwood watched
with no eyes for sight
so as it gracefully,
sweeps past the shores
cast a glance of forevermore
beauty, even in driftwood comes
brown wood, dried in the sun
roaming, rushing, floating by
whimsical natures lullaby

Wow! Very nice. I love the rhyme and rhythm.

In that song related to this poem, the driftwood is just floating in its beauty. But driftwood nowadays do not end as that dead wood. They're naturally stunning...a material for sculpture or that haven for our beautiful orchids. I love driftwood!

i have seen many pieces of beautiful driftwood in my time...i love the stuff. i admit, when i saw the title for this i thought of that moody blues tune "driftwood" which is just gorgeous, but i was pleasantly surprised to find your poem the genuine article. well penned.
