Whispering Willow

Whispering Willow

A Poem by Holly Mason

whispering willow I over heard
all that was said was not deserved
branches hang down, grazing the earth
a huge base planted, safely in dirt
your thoughts are waterfalls
brushing the ground
blowing in wind with so many sounds
a weeping rose, a lost love fought
a weeping sunflower, destiny taught
these flowers do not weep
only carry the burden
your branches so heavy
of this I am certain
whispering willow I over heard
all that was said was not deserved
I listened to the wind
I deciphered the tears
always seeming so strong
standing for years
a weeping violet, a burst of voice
a weeping daisy, a last ditch choice
these flowers do not weep
only carry your thoughts
your branches their strength
their seeds you have caught
weeping willow I watched you cry
whispering willow will always try
so many flowers on the breeze they blow
your branches will hold them never letting them go

This is really beautiful Holly. Such a lovely rhythm and I really feel the weight of the weeping/whispering willow - very evocative. I look forward to checking out some more of your stuff!
