Prologue

Enkou killed them all. The war has started and progressing quickly. I, Alexia Thompson, am fifty-two years old now, but can still battle okay. Logan and I are the only two that survived Enkou's attack, apart from our eleven year old daughter, Lucy, and just your average pack member, Jason, who is twelve years old.
We had no choice but to start a new clan. Emma, Jen, Hinata, TJ, and Daichi practically died of old age, since the battle just weakened their worn out bodies to death. Xavier and Chanler were killed by Enkou's leader, Axel.
Enkou is a terrible clan, starting war with all of the other clans in Jadah just for power that isn't rightfully theirs.
Only two members of my clan, Kyioshi, left. I hope they continue it and not start a new clan with a new name. Though I doubt Lucy and Jason would let that happen.
At least I can die with pride. My genes will continue, with Lucy's help. My name will be remembered in Jadah, along with Kyioshi.
Lucy. She will make it, she'll save Jadah just as I did when I was young. Lucy, is my pride.

I like the idea of a book's prologue as a document like this. For some reason, I always liked reading the writing within the writing, if you know what I mean.
