Revolutions Per Minute

Revolutions Per Minute

A Poem by Matt
"

Ever been pissed off at your own way of life?

"
Hundreds of people flee the Ivory Coast
Families in Libya remain holed up in their homes
"Five dead in Bahrain" screams the news headline
While politicians in DC argue endless deadlines
Another US soldier has been killed in Iraq
But the shoppers remain clueless and turn their backs
A man sends in mercenaries to kill his enemies
And unions burn the populace with their endless greed

chorus:
Revolutions per minute just watch the clock
The tachometer is revving the gloves are coming off
Throwing rocks in their windows to wake the town
Before we can rebuild we have to burn it all down

Bombs going off in Russia bombs going off here
Tanks rolling down the streets to instill fear
A man shot for wanting freedom while we throw ours away
If our grandparents could see this what the hell would they say
We're killing our own children before they're even born
We're slaughtering civilians and you say that it's a bore
They're taking all our freedoms behind reassuring smiles
And you just cheer with them don't you see you're in denial

(chorus)

Please forgive me mother for what I'm gonna have to do
If we don't open our eyes to the lies we should see through
I'm crying out in anger I'm crying out in shame
I remember all the faces I'll carry home their names
The poor kids in Guatemala without families or homes
Our corruption started wars we'll refuse to ever own
Scandals running rampant and over clothing we're irate
But I looked into their eyes and all we deserve is hate

(chorus)
