Diaspora

Diaspora

A Poem by Matt
"

Combo of friend drama, issues my friend's family in Egypt were running into, and a whole boatload of other stuff.

"
Throw myself into these lost causes to drown out the pain
Beat myself against their walls just to mask my shame
Pounding on the doors yet you failed to let me in
I'll wander these fields until I just cave in

Sacrificed for a string of lies but still I struggle on
Feet battered cut and bruised but still don't see the sun
Angered by those who won't open their eyes I realize I'm blind
Is there something still out there will we stand the test of time

chorus:
Trudging forward like solitary refugees
The last diaspora of a lost generation
There's nothing that this place has left to offer us
Take my hand we'll burn it all and be free

Charge for their battlelines without a hope of winning
They're taking us piece by piece with each white flag we bring
Nothing that we can do to get out of this cycle
We should have listened earlier when life was still so stable

(chorus)

I'd rather feel anger than have to deal with this loss
The empty void is filling me my life is shutting off
My second wind is all I have but that's almost gone too
There's not much more that I can take let's see what you can do

bridge:
Break me now!
Take them down!
Kill me with this one last sound!
Burn it down!
Torch it now!
Send me out and make it loud!

(chorus)
