Beast

Beast

A Poem by Jared Michael Smith
"

Inspired by Lord of the Flies by Golding

"
Thing of evil,
Purest of all,
Sitting in there,
Biding his time.

I can see it,
Its yellow eyes
Staring at me,
Coaxing me near.

Feigning courage,
I step forward,
Eager to hear
What it will say.

"Come now, dear boy,
Can't I come out?
I won't hurt you,
Just let me free."

"You won't hurt me?
That's laughable,
I know better,
No one is safe."

His smile fading,
His tone shifting,
Eyes go blood red,
He starts to scream:

"Release me, fool!
I will get out,
With or without
You helping me!"

I turn away,
False courage gone,
And start to run,
Afraid of him.

I jump back through
The looking glass,
Not turning back,
Head down in shame.

I can hear it,
Dark voice growling,
Sharp claws tearing,
White fangs snapping.

The Beast calms down,
Still in its cage,
Back to waiting,
Back to scheming.

damn, I like it
although, 'dear boy' doesn't seem to go with the mood of things, might wanna change it. Still, pretty dang awesome.

I can kinda see that. Maybe change it to "my boy" instead? And thanks for the review. :-)
