Friends till the end?

Friends till the end?

A Poem by Dezarae
"

poem about my life....

"
 We stand in the snow,
 I look at you
And smile.
Nothings more fun than playing with others in snow.
Like you always said...

You toss a snowball and
 It lands on Kaylani’s face,
I see you smiling.
 its time to battle,
and you hold your guard up.

 My day becomes a dream,
 I start to wonder
If we could ever be like we used to be,
 You remember, right?
You, me.... running around, playing video games
 Laughing because I beat you.

We used to be best friends...
 What happened to that?
 Did middle school
 Change your perspective of me?
Was it that I started to grow out of my childhood?

I can't remember what caused the change
As I creep up behind you with a giant snow ball in my hand,
You look at Kaylani the way you used to look at me...
Can you give me the friendship and playfulness you give my brother and sister?

I try not to think about it as my feelings start to numb,
You only say Niki Niki once in a blue moon

I want to be your friend again
Not the teen daughter  you don't understand,
Your teen daughter, who’s slowly growing into a young woman
Boyfriend standing in your place,
 slowly Niki Niki is dissolving
And you won’t stand for it
 Even if I'm nine-teen,

I remember when we made snow angels together,
and built little snowmen on the front porch
Can I have that back?

I forge that smile you always love
so maybe you’ll think of
When you weren't just my father
But you were also my friend.
