A Moment's Zen

A Moment's Zen

A Poem by The Darkest Silhouette
"

this is based on the recent experience of taking my new son out to the beach

"
Rare is peace in our lives
rare is absolute serenity
sun falling down
aiding my shadow cast
sand makes no cry
as the tide washes over it
urchins gurgle beyond the shore
while oversea there fights a war
of daisies and roses
while thorns and vipers
duel on foreign soil
splashing saltwater
meets my toes
the baby in my arms
lays as still as my heart
unrushed by the world
pants long since soaked
through by saturated sands
i am at final peace
contrast to the surrounding
i am at inner zen
if only for a moment

I live within three miles from the beach - I understand this zen - maybe that is why I chose this avatar - it reminds me of the peacefulness one only gets while resting in shallow water - listening to the sounds of life underwater. It is definitely a contrast to the violence of war and you captured that moment beautifully with the image of the stillness of a baby in your arms. Thank you for sharing this moment.
