Birdsong

Birdsong

A Poem by Harper Tate

Some people say that their

Favourite sound in the morning

Is the quintessential chirp of the birds,

The low hum of the waking city,

Or even the click of the kettle

for mornings first coffee.

But for me, it’s the sleepy sigh

That leaves your lips

As you roll over and kiss my cheek.

That is the only noise my morning needs.
