Choices

I am an emotional being
I was created to be this way,
But my emotions do not define
Who or what I am...

My choices that I make
when faced with strong emotions,
Define the who and what I am
As my actions are my responsibility.

When faced with Love
I can choose to stay and care
As love is an action as well as an emotion.

When faced with Hate
I can choose NOT to hate in return
For hate is an action that only gives out pain.

When faced with Sadness
I can choose to find the joy in things that surround me
For sadness only brings more sadness into the world.

When faced with Strife with friends or family
I can choose to forgive
As forgiveness is mine to give without requiring it in return.

With struggles all around me
When emotions are running strong,
I need to find the strength in me
To choose my actions wisely.
