The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

A Poem by Jayna Burch

I was sailing on the ocean
the ocean of life and love
It was dark and stormy
   waves battered my ship
Trying to navigate through the rocks
   that were tearing things apart
I had resigned myself
that I would never see the shore.

All of a sudden I see
a shining light to guide me
It illuminated the clouds in the sky
the storm now not so scarry
It showed me the rocks
   making possible to avoid them
Now there was hope
that I would see the light of day.

You are my lighthouse
   guiding me along the way
Showing me that love is not a storm
but peaceful with your light upon it
You are a guiding force on my heart
protecting so nothing can tear a hole in it
Your love is the light in my darkness
Shining on my heart and my life.

Beautifully written. Nice ambigious reference to God/Jesus or supreme being or person possibly. Very inspirational!

A powerful and beautiful poem. Description and your story was amazing. Lighthouses are a symbol of hope. I like how you used them in your poem. A excellent poem.
