Self-Respect

Self-Respect

A Poem by Niall Madden

Out of all of life's diseases,
isolation is the worst.
It locks a soul in a prison,
while it lingers like a curse.

It locks a soul in a prison,
while it lingers like a curse.
it Leaves you with the framework
an empty shell without a mind.
a loss of sanity and sanctity,
Is all you'll tend to find.

Fighting is futile.

contending, contained

how worthless is violence ?

When you wage war against you're own brain...

"When you wage war against your own brain." Well said.
The repeating, as aforementioned, does make it sound lyrical. But it's a pleasant tilt to the poem.
Short but sweet. Excellent.

It reads like lyrics which isn't a bad thing just an observation. Good structure, it flows except for the repeat(which is one reason it reads like lyrics) but I like it.

Beautiful poem and nicely written. I feel there was no need to repeat it "It locks a soul in a prison,
while it lingers like a curse" just my opinion tho. Good poem.
